TEACHING

Through my courses I teach students the science behind environmental problems and the efforts conducted to minimize human impacts and promote sustainability. I also train students on how to use their science to make an impact on society.

Broader Impacts of Science on Society (BSC 6038)

A 2-credit course for University of Florida graduate students that allows students to successfully use their science to reach people beyond their scientific field.
​Topics covered are: IDEA and broadening participation in STEM, K-12 Outreach, Science Communication, Use of social media, Evaluation of outreach activities, etc.

Global Change Ecology and Sustainability (BSC 2862)

A 3-credit 100% online course for undergraduates that offers students the opportunity to learn how to use ecological concepts to discuss major anthropogenic driven changes that are occurring globally.

The Voyage of the Turtle
​(IDH 2930)

A 1-credit (Un)common reads class for University of Florida Honors undergraduate students where we read and discuss Carl Safina's book "Voyage of the Turtle: In Pursuit of Earth's Last Dinosaur."
